Sometimes chiropractors can get a bad rap, but more often than not this can be rooted back to misinformation. Were here today to talk about some of the things chiropractic care can be useful for and some little known facts about your local chiropractors.
For starters, sometimes people think that because chiropractors don’t write prescriptions, they are less qualified than a typical M.D. but this is not true. Chiropractors must complete their 4 year undergrad and then an additional 8 years of higher education, often averaging around 4200 hours of instruction. before they are able to apply for a chiropractic license. The license and certification, granting one the title of “Doctor of Chiropractic” must be board approved. So, while chiropractors do not write prescriptions, they are often times just as thoroughly trained as a typical M.D..
Chiropractors are typically known to treat neck and back problems, but they are also very effective when it comes to treating bone and soft tissue conditions as well. Another often forgotten fact about chiropractors is that they are very effective when treating conditions stemming from auto injuries. A 2010 study showed that spinal manipulation is beneficial when treating back pain, migraines, whiplash and neck pain. All conditions that are associated with an auto accident. Another study showed that chiropractic care improved pain and function for up to 6 weeks. Which leads us to our final misconception, chiropractic care is not a one time thing. while some patients are going to need more frequent treatment than others, chiropractic care should be implemented as a form of maintenance for best results.
